Bear Creek Provincial Park

Since the early 80’s hubby and I, along with our three children, have spent many summers camping at Bear Creek Provincial Park along the shores of Okanagan Lake. For most of hubby’s career he was a small business owner, which of course meant little opportunity for holidays, while I worked for the Federal Government and was privy to paid vacation leave. So we would often spend our summers at Bear Creek as it was close enough that hubby could drive in to work each day and our children and I could spend our days on the beach … okay not so good for hubby but he was happy because he didn’t have to come home and do yard work and all the other chores that happen while you are at home 🙂

Now that we are retired we still return to Bear Creek a few times a year and always enjoy our time here. On this trip we were fortunate to get the best spot in the park, right along the lake! We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and it was warm but a little overcast. We quickly set up and set about getting some chores out of the way before our friends joined us. As I was doing the housework and hubby was washing the truck I realized how much our life had changed … there was a time when I wouldn’t think of doing these chores while “camping” but now it’s just another day in a new location … it really isn’t a bad life.

Early in the afternoon our friends arrived and Maxx and his friend Terry, along with his owners Mr. & Mrs. Terry, where happily set up and sitting down to chat over drinks. The only downfall to this perfect afternoon? The rain start to come down … heavy … and it didn’t stop. So we did what we had to do, had a few more drinks and some great conversation and thought positive thoughts that tomorrow would bring back the warm sunny skies so we could sit by the lake.
