My sister told me about this hike so I’m glad we were finally able to do it! Although I have to admit yesterday’s failed attempt turned out to be a great hike so I was okay with delaying Devil’s Bridge for a day.
We started early again, to avoid the heat, and easily found the correct trailhead. If you park at the Devil’s Bridge trailhead the hike is only 1.8 miles (2.9 km) long but you need a high clearance vehicle to make it to the parking lot.
Our trucks are high clearance and four-wheel drive but we choose to park at the Mescal Trail parking lot and that added 2.6 miles (4.2 km) to our hike. Once again the scenery was amazing!
Once we hit the Devil’s Bridge trail it widens considerably as it use to be an old jeep road through gorgeous canyons lined with juniper trees and prickly pear cactus.
Shortly we began to climb the red rock cliffs.
And I thought we were at the stairs taking us up to the bridge.
But it turned out these were the stairs up to the bridge!!!
It really was worth the climb although the pictures don’t do the bridge justice.

It’s hard to tell that is actually a bridge but it was and a little to narrow for me to walk over but hubby did it 🙂
On our way down we took a short side path that led us under the bridge and that provided some pretty great pictures. Devil’s Bridge is the largest sandstone bridge in the Sedona area.
Just over four beautiful dusty miles (7km) later we piled back into the truck and headed out to an Irish Pub for a well deserved lunch 🙂
Until next time …
That bridge would have me worried. It looks a little..ummm….narrow.

I think it was but honestly I didn’t get close enough to confirm that 😊
