I could finish that with “Come back another day” but really I wish the wind wouldn’t come back. We were up bright and early yesterday morning, well I was, hubby is still battling his cold so he dosed for a while while I did my morning banking and puzzles. By 6:00 a.m. I was out of bed brushing my teeth and all of the sudden the wind started to howl. It had been so still overnight and we both thought it would be an awesome day for the balloons, but somehow the wind knew it was time to get the show on the road and decided to put an end to that!
The wind was so fierce that we didn’t even bother going over to the festival grounds and it only got worse as the day went on 🙂
Our next stop after the Balloon Festival is back out to the desert for ten days and we needed to restock the freezer so we decided to go grocery shopping. We also needed some unlimited Internet access so we had lunch at Mudshark Brewery were I had a really yummy Pumpkin Spiced Ale 🙂
We had hoped the wind would die down enough that the balloons would be out for the evening glow but no such luck, so I will leave you with some pictures from our first day.
This series was the set-up of the balloon for the Sunrise Flag Ceremony
Once the balloon was up in the air, flying the American Flag, the American National Anthem was played.
I thought you might like to see a close-up view of a balloon basket.
And finally a few interesting vehicles we saw on the site.
Until next time …
