Box Canyon Road, CA

When we left the Fountain of Youth and headed back to Arizona we turned at Mecca, CA to head up to I10 along Box Canyon Road. Box Canyon is home to Painted Canyon which is well know for it’s hiking but what we didn’t realize was that the area is also home to some beautiful BLM land! We have added this location to our list of boondocking areas we will be returning to 🙂

After fortifying ourselves with lunch at the Quartzite Yacht Club (we have to support our Yacht Club 😀 we headed on to some BLM land outside Sedona, where we planned to settle in for five nights, but there was no room. So we went on to plan B, which was to stay at an RV Park in the area but they were all full. Plan C had us heading back towards Phoenix when we finally found a spot in the Angle Valley BLM land just before dark. I’m not sure if the area was so busy because it was the weekend or if this was normal but if you plan to visit this area it would be a good idea to make reservations.

An awesome view from our free campsite!

Until next time …
