Surprise, We Are Home!

On Sunday we flew home to surprise our daughter and her family and our oldest son and his family, who are visiting from Alberta. They had no idea we were coming home for Christmas! A week ago hubby surprised me by suggesting we go home for Christmas and when he found a very cheap direct flight out of Vegas he went ahead and booked it. We left Yuma at 4:00 a.m., drove five hours to Las Vegas and took a three-hour flight home. My sister and brother-in-law picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at our daughter’s house around four in the afternoon. We walked up and knocked on the door and when our daughter answered we said we were there for Sunday dinner 🙂 Fortunately for us everyone was really excited to see us and we were so happy to be home for Christmas.

We are also very lucky to have a good friend who has lent us her condo for our ten-day visit, along with the use of her car, while she is away for the winter. Her condo is across the street from the lake and in the same area we used to have our house so its nice to be back in familiar territory.

After selling our home last year we planned to spend a few years on the road and then purchase a new home to live in when we are here for the summer. Having the use of the condo gives us an opportunity to decide if this is the route we want to go when we do buy. So far it’s pretty good but making two trips up to the fourth floor with the groceries was a chore … I guess the trick is to buy less!

Until next time …

  1. we also have found the fourth floor baggage train exasperating it never happens that I buy less and yesterday we dropped a jar of pickles in the underground parking lot. We do use a little light weight dolly and a grocery cart that helps unless of course you’ve forgotten them and they are up in the condo safe and sound
